Simple
the perfect spring day
Some people think you have to travel to peace and solitude, but your own little slice of wilderness is probably closer than you think. The truth is, the culture we live in doesn’t value nature or the great outdoors, worshipping at the glowing screens that seem to eat their souls.
Our lives are a twisted mire of family, obligations, work, activities, most of which are to meet the expectations of people we don’t like, that old adage, keeping up with the Joneses.
I would have to imagine, with few exceptions, each of us lives within easy driving distance of a river. A river that winds and bends its way through the landscape, hemmed in by a forest of one variety or another.
The best part? Spring has come upon us in all its glory; the hidden forest flowers and strange plants are pushing their way through the detritus of winter’s fury.
I trust you will find the river bubbling and swirling in happiness, sending its thoughts to the south, carrying with it the spirit of the lands farther north. It will be happy to invite you to sit on its banks and watch the hawks circle and swoop in the warm breeze.
Who knows what you might find, probably peace of mind and wonder at the simple things in life that you find yourself discovering on some tall river bluff.
Most people don’t look forward to being alone; it makes them uncomfortable, no noise, music, or TV to drown out the thoughts in the back of their mind. Yet, a solo hike on a path less traveled is just what the doctor ordered.
What are you waiting for?
